Gouda

Gouda is a Dutch city south of Amsterdam in the province of South Holland. It’s known for its namesake cheese and seasonal cheese market, regularly held on the medieval Markt square. Anchoring the square is the 15th-century town tall, a Gothic building with red and white shutters. Also on the square is the 17th-century Goudse Waag, once a cheese-weighing station and now home to the Gouda Cheese Museum.

Frequently asked questions

What are the check-in and check-out times?

You can check in from 14:00 and check out until 11:00. Would you like to pack up your tent in the evening? Ask at reception for a late departure (€ 20.00; not always possible).

What if I need to cancel my stay?

If you cancel 30 days or more before arrival, you get the full amount back minus € 5.00 administration costs. If you cancel 14 to 30 days before arrival, you get 50% back; 7 to 14 days before arrival, 25%. Cancellations less than 7 days before arrival are not refunded. If you do not turn up without letting us know, we may let the place to someone else and there is no refund.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, up to 2 pets (dogs or cats) are welcome per pitch; we charge € 2.50 per night for a dog. Your pet must be vaccinated against rabies and must always be kept on a lead on the site and on the little beaches. Walk your dog on a lead outside the site, along the dike or in the meadow, and clean up after it straight away. Pets are not allowed in the toilet building or the launderette and must never be left alone at the tent or caravan.

Can I have a barbecue or a campfire?

Barbecues are allowed on your own pitch, but not directly on the ground. Place the barbecue well away from your tent or caravan and mind the wind direction so your neighbours are bothered as little as possible. Open fires at caravans, campers or tents are not allowed, and neither are fire baskets or smoker barrels. You can make a campfire at the designated places along the water.

When are the quiet hours?

Quiet hours are from 22:00 to 07:00; please make no noise during that time. During the day, too, use radios, televisions and music in a way that does not disturb other guests.

Can my car stay at my pitch?

No, please always park your car in the car park. Loading and unloading is possible in consultation with reception; drive at walking pace on the site (max. 5 km/h). After 20:00 you may only drive onto the campsite after letting us know. Mopeds and scooters are parked at the spot near the restaurant.

Can friends or family visit me?

Of course. Visitors report to reception on arrival and may stay until 22:00; a day visit costs € 3.50 per person. If your visitors stay the night, let reception know in advance: an overnight guest costs € 5.00 per person per night, plus tourist tax. Expecting a group of more than 4 visitors, for a birthday for example? Please let us know beforehand. Visitors’ cars stay in the car park outside the barrier.

Is there electricity on the pitch?

You have a 16 amp (220 volt) electricity connection. Make sure your caravan, camper or tent has a 16 amp type A circuit breaker, and please use water and electricity sparingly. A maximum of 2 gas bottles is allowed per camping unit; turn them off when you leave or are away.
